Complete Your Smile With Mini Dental Implants in Athens
You may be aware that dental implants are a fantastic way to replace missing teeth. However, implants need enough healthy bone material to fuse with. If you’ve been told your jawbone is weak and that implants aren’t a possibility for you, our mini dental implants in Athens may do the trick. Dr. McRae and our other dentists at McRae Family Dental use mini implants to help our patients:

They're called either mini implants or small diameter implants. They started out as a transitional implant for the real implants. What we originally would do, we put in several mini implants while the real implants would be healing, and then they found out that these things are so stable, they could serve as a whole prosthesis hip on their own, but they are small. Most of them are less than three millimeters, so they can go into areas that normally a regular implant, which is three millimeters or above, would not fit.
The other thing is that cost-wise, they're usually half the fee of a regular implant. You could put in four mini implants, and that would serve to help stabilize dentures. We've also used mini implants for crown and bridge as well.

Mini Implants Work When Standard Implants Won’t
Just as their name implies, mini implants are a smaller version of a standard-sized dental implant. Because of their small size and shorter length, they don’t need as much healthy bone to fuse with. They can be used in areas where your jawbone is thin or not strong enough for standard implants. Minis also work well for patients who don’t want to go through a bone graft procedure and wait several months for it to make their jaw stronger.
Another benefit of mini implants is that they require a less invasive placement procedure. Your healing time will be shorter and more comfortable than with standard implants. Many patients prefer mini teeth implants for this reason alone.
Like standard implants, your mini implants will support new replacement teeth. You’ll have several options available, including:
- A Single Mini Implant With a Crown – Replace a single missing tooth with a mini implant.
- Mini Implants With a Bridge – Fill in a smile gap left by several missing teeth.
- Mini Implants With Dentures – Secure your dentures to minis for superior comfort and performance over conventional dentures.
